Accessibility

Our target

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as the technical target for this website. Accessibility work is ongoing. This statement describes that work; it is not a claim that every page fully meets the standard.

What we have done

• Every page has a “Skip to main content” link, one main heading, and a marked main content region for screen readers.
• Menus, tabs and disclosure panels can be operated with a keyboard, and keyboard focus is shown with a visible outline.
• Form fields have labels. If a required field is missing, the form says which fields need attention and announces the result.
• Text colours have been adjusted so that normal-size text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background in the places we measured.
• Pages have been adjusted so content fits a 320-pixel-wide screen without scrolling sideways, apart from interactive maps.
• Field videos have player controls and caption tracks.
• Interactive planning tools include text summaries of their results.
• The downloadable spec sheets have text versions on this website.

Known limitations

• The downloadable spec sheet PDFs are not yet tagged for screen readers. Please use the text versions, or contact us for the information in another format.
• The interactive maps and simulators (site performance, light spread, temperature envelope and GPS monitoring) are visual tools. Their text summaries may not capture every detail a sighted user can explore.
• The GPS Monitoring map uses map images from OpenStreetMap, which we do not control.
• We have not yet completed testing with every screen reader and browser combination.
